Applying for a job

As part of the Y6 'World of Work Week', the children gained an understanding of the process of applying for a job. They were given the opportunity to apply for a work experience role within the school as a teaching assistant or as a member of SLT. We looked at the job descriptions and the person specifications and then analysed an example letter of application. The pupils then wrote their own letters, outlining their skills and attributes which made them suitable for the role they'd applied for. In the afternoon,  they then experienced what it would be like to be interviewed. Volunteers asked the children questions, and then they deliberated about which pupils earned the roles. During Friday's celebration assembly, the successful candidates were revealed and were given acceptance letters. Now they can't wait to experience their 'jobs' for real!
